There is a difficulty in automatic reception due to the design of the Macintosh computer, in this case a ringindicator lead. This would normally be used to recognise a ring tone on a telephone line. Due to Apple saving money in the design process it has made life more difficult for us, however, all is not lost.
You will need a serial cable with a Sub-D 25 male and a Mini-DIN-8 plug to go between modem and computer. These are normally supplied with the modem, if you do not have one you may either buy it or make your own using the following diagram:
